Members of County Tyrone Frontier Relief Society
members have visited Doagh Visitors Centre at Inishowen County
Donegal. The Society is affiliated to Tyrone County Grand
Lodge and provides welfare and tangible support to widows
and dependants of brethren, who have been tragically murdered
by the IRA.
The centre, which is located in the picturesque
peninsula of Inishowen, took the coach party back through
the passage of time, relating to local history, dating back
to the famine.
Other features at the centre included an Irish
wake house, Orange Hall and Presbyterian meeting house. The
day commenced with the party being entertained to a sumptuous
lunch in Fahan Presbyterian Church hall by the ladies of the
congregation. The hospitality shown by the County Donegal
ladies sowed seeds of friendship, which will remain long after
the visit.
The trip ended with a meal in the Redcastle
Hotel overlooking the banks of the Foyle. The Society is deeply
indebted to Fairhill and District Credit Union and Raphoe
Action for their generous sponsorship of the event. Andrew
Scott, Treasurer, Aughnamoyle House, 41 Gillygooley Road,
Omagh BT78 5PP will gratefully receive donations for the futherance
of the fund.
