Schomberg House has obtained figures for the 'flagship'
July 12th event in Bangor.
The Bangor Twelfth was designated a flagship Twelfth following
discussions with the Northern Ireland Tourist Board, and
representatives of both the Board and Tourism Ireland were
present as observers.
In addition the event was featured on the NITB website,
and it is hoped that this response can be built upon for
the future. The event itself was a great success and the
Bangor District has received congratulations from the PSNI
for the manner in which it was organised.
Now the police have informed the Grand Lodge that they
estimate 80,000 people, including those participating in
the parade, were in Bangor on July 12th.
Police estimates for the Scarva demonstration the following
day suggest over 95,000 people were present in the village
that day for the Royal Black Institution event.
The statistics are among those being gathered by Schomberg
House at the present time and will be helpful for the future.
