The Orange Order is soliciting the help of Members of the
Northern Ireland Assembly in persuading the Government to
undertake an immediate review of the Parades Commission.
The Grand Orange Lodge of Ireland, in a letter signed by
its Grand Master, Robert Saulters, and Grand Secretary, John
McCrea, said the work of the Parades Commission had fundamentally
led to the erosion of the principles of civil liberty.
"Members of the Orange Institution are concerned when
liberties are eroded and we further believe that the Parades
Commission has actually provided for a deterioration in community
relations in Northern Ireland through its denial of the legitimate
expression of faith and culture, and the tradition of a people",
says the Orange letter.
