A delegation of senior Tyrone Orangemen has met with the
PSNI to raise their concerns about the recent upsurge in attacks
on Orange Halls in the county.
The delegation, made up of county officers and district masters,
pressed the Strabane District police commander to provide
more overt security coverage throughout the district following
a number of incidents including recent attacks on Orange Halls
at Castlederg and Douglas Bridge.
Echoing condemnation of the attacks from local nationalist
politicians, a spokesman for the Tyrone County Orange Lodge
appealed for no retaliation and urged anybody who may have
witnessed the incidents to contact the PSNI investigation
team in Strabane.
