A large contingent of Orangemen from the United States will
again be taking part in the South Londonderry Twelfth this
year.
Birmingham Sons of William LOL 1003 from Birmingham, Alabama
will join Maghera Sons of William LOL 209 as they parade in
Tobermore.
This will be the third year in succession that the Alabama
lodge has taken part in the celebrations. It was founded by
the Dean of Birmingham, the Very Rev. Paul Zhal, and last
year 24 members and wives and families traveled to Ulster
for the Twelfth.
"They took part in both our annual church parade and
the Twelfth in Ballyronan, where many lasting friendships
were formed," said Kevin Meek, secretary of LOL 209.
During their 2005 visit to Northern Ireland the US Orange
group will be visiting the Orange Order's headquarters in
Belfast as well as a number of other venues.
