The Grand Orange Lodge of Ireland has expressed its condolences
to those who lost loved ones in yesterday's London bombings.
In a statement today, the Grand Lodge said that it's sympathy
was also with all those who were injured in what it described
as an appalling act of barbarity.
The statement said that people of Northern Ireland knew better
than most about the impact terrorism had on the lives of ordinary
people.
"Our thoughts are with the people of London at this time,
and with our colleagues in the Grand Orange Lodge of England.
The people of London will no doubt display the level of courage
which existed in the capital during the Second World War,
and neither they nor anyone else in the United Kingdom will
be defeated by terrorists,"
"Unfortunately yesterday was not the first time London
has suffered at the hands of terrorists - most notably from
the IRA which has helped train others right across the world
to commit indiscriminate mass murder. We in the Grand Lodge
of Ireland stand firmly with Londoners in their determination
to resist all those who would seek to impose their wishes
on others through terror," the statement said.
