Whitelaw Reid was an impressive Ulster-Scot, a newspaper man and a Vice Presidential candidate as well as a diplomat. He was of Scots Covenanter stock and his family roots in Ulster were in County Tyrone. This tribute to the Ulster Scots people was written by Reid when he was Ambassador to Britain (1905-1912) .
